The Players for Peach Streusel Muffins

Ingredients:
- Butter – Using butter as our fat gives these muffins a rich flavor while keeping the crumb soft and tender.
- White Sugar- Granulated sugar sweetens the muffins and helps create their light, fluffy texture. It also goes in the crumb topping.
- Brown Sugar – Light brown sugar adds a hint of caramel flavor to the buttery cinnamon streusel topping.
- Eggs – Use room temperature eggs so they incorporate more easily into the batter.
- Vanilla – Pure vanilla extract enhances the sweet peach flavor and complements the warm cinnamon.
- Sour Cream – Sour cream creates incredibly moist, peach muffins. Plain Greek yogurt can be substituted if needed.
- Milk – Whole milk adds moisture to these sweet peach streusel muffins.
- Flour – All-purpose flour provides the perfect structure while keeping the muffins light and fluffy.
- Leaveners – Baking powder and baking soda provide the lift needed for soft, moist, cake-like muffins with tall bakery-style tops.
- Spices & Seasonings – Ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt add warm flavor and balances out the sweet juicy peaches.
- Peaches – Use ripe peaches for the best flavor. They should be fragrant and slightly soft to the touch but still firm enough to hold their shape while baking. Scroll down for tips on using frozen or canned peaches.
Tools:
- Muffin Pan – A standard 12-cup muffin tin works perfectly for this recipe. For larger muffins, use a 6-cup muffin tin and bake the muffins for about 4-6 minutes longer than the recipe states.
- Liners – These bakery-style parchment tulip liners help create tall, beautifully domed muffins while making them easy to remove from the pan. They also give your homemade muffins a professional bakery look.

How to Make Peach Streusel Muffins
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Faherneheit. Line a standard 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners and lightly spray them with nonstick cooking spray.

Make the Crumble Topping
In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.

Mix with a fork until large crumbs form. Refrigerate while preparing the muffin batter.
Make the Muffin Batter
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Mix in the vanilla extract, sour cream, and milk until smooth.

To the wet ingredients, add the dry ingredients of 2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg directly on top of the flour. Do not overmix.

In a small separate bowl, toss the chopped peaches with 1 tablespoon flour, then gently fold them into the batter until just combined.

Fill the Muffin Pan
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared muffin cups, filling each about ¾ full.

Generously sprinkle streusel topping over the top of each muffin, gently pressing it into the batter so it sticks during baking.

Bake the Peach Streusel Muffins
Place the muffins in the oven and bake for 20–22 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs attached.

Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

What Are the Best Peaches for Muffins?
Fresh peaches are my favorite for this recipe, but frozen and canned peaches work well too with a few simple adjustments.
Frozen Peaches
Thaw completely, drain any excess liquid, and pat dry with paper towels before tossing with flour and folding into the muffin batter.
Canned Peaches
Drain well, pat dry, and dice into small pieces. Fold them in gently since they’re softer than fresh peaches.

Storage, Freezing, and Defrosting Instruction
To Store:
Store the cooled peach streusel muffins in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic wrap at room temperature for up to 3 days.
To Freeze:
Once the muffins have cooled completely, place them on a wire rack or baking sheet and flash freeze for about 1 hour, or until firm. Transfer the frozen muffins to a freezer-safe zip-top bag or airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months.
To Defrost:
Remove the muffins from the freezer and let them thaw at room temperature for an hour or overnight in the refrigerator. For a freshly baked taste, heat in the microwave for 15–20 seconds or until warmed through.
