The Players for Cast Iron Skillet S’mores

Ingredients:
- Butter – Use room temperature butter so it creams easily with the brown sugar. I’m using light brown sugar, but feel free to use dark brown sugar if that’s what you have.
- Brown Sugar – You’ll need brown sugar for this yummy s’mores skillet. I’m using light brown sugar, but feel free to use dark brown sugar if that’s what you have.
- Vanilla – A splash of vanilla extract enhances all of the flavors and adds warmth to the dessert.
- Oats – Old fashioned oats work best for this cast iron skillet s’mores pie. Quick oats might make the topping too soft.
- Flour – All purpose flour is needed for this great recipe.
- Graham Crackers – Crushed graham crackers give this dessert its classic s’mores flavor while adding a sweet, honey-like taste and crunchy texture.
- Baking Powder – Baking powder gives the topping a lighter texture and helps it bake up golden and tender.
- Salt – Just a small amount of salt balances out all of the flavors.
- Marshmallows – Large marshmallows, mini marshmallows, or even jumbo marshmallows can be used to create gooey perfection. I use the large (regular-sized) marshmallows, but using jumbo marshmallows will create an even gooier marshmallow layer.
- Chocolate – Use your favorite chocolate for this recipe. Milk chocolate bars create that classic campfire s’mores flavor, but semisweet chocolate, dark chocolate, or even chocolate chips are all delicious options.
Tools:
- Cast Iron Skillet – A 10-inch cast iron skillet works perfectly for this recipe. You can also use small cast iron skillets to make individual portions or a 12-inch cast iron pan for a thinner dessert.

How to Make Cast Iron Skillet S’mores
Prepare the Skillet
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet with butter or nonstick cooking spray. To minimize waste, I like to use the butter wrapper to grease the skillet after adding the butter to the mixing bowl.

Make the Graham Cracker Crumble
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract together until light and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.

Add the oats, flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract. Mix until a crumbly dough forms.

Assemble the S’mores Pie
Press about two-thirds of the graham mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared skillet.

Arrange the halved marshmallows in a single layer of marshmallows over the crust. Sprinkle about two chopped chocolate bars evenly over the marshmallows to create a rich chocolate layer.

Sprinkle the remaining one-third of the oat mixture over the top, leaving some marshmallows and chocolate peeking through.

Bake the S’mores Pie
Place the skillet on the middle rack of the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 22 minutes, or until the topping is lightly golden brown and the marshmallows are melted.

Allow the pie to cool for 15 minutes. If desired, break up the third chocolate bar and dot the top with Serve warm and enjoy!

Storage and Reheating Instructions
To Store:
Store any leftover Cast Iron Skillet S’mores Pie tightly covered at room temperature for up to 2 days. Keep in mind that the marshmallows will become firmer as the dessert cools and is stored.
To Reheat:
Reheat individual servings in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds, or until the chocolate and marshmallows are soft and melty again.
