Jingle All the Way Movie Night
Last year during Christmastime, we had a really fun Home Alone Family Movie Night right at home! The kids enjoyed it so much, so now we’ll be having a Christmas-themed movie night every Christmas!
This year, I thought that “Jingle All the Way” would be a fairly straightforward and easy idea, and to be honest, it was kind of hard lol! As I was skimming through the film, I noticed there wasn’t much food to be had at all.
Now there are several scenes where cookies, hot chocolate, and eggnog are consumbed, but no actual food. But that’s okay, because I was able to come up with a delicious meal that was easy for me and yummy for my family. Alright friends, let’s watch this funny Christmas story and have a Jingle All The Way movie night!
Jingle All the Way Movie Night Dinner
Here’s what’s on the menu for this classic Christmas comedy:
Turbo Time Tacos
Super easy ground beef tacos that have simmered in a homemade taco seasoning is simple and yummy. While there are no actual tacos in this Christmas flick, it just happened to be a Tuesday night when I came up with this idea (Hello, Taco Tuesday!), so might as well call them Turbo Time Tacos!
- Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef (or ground turkey or ground chicken) until fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes). Drain any excess grease with a spoon or use a paper towel to absorb the fat (best tip ever!)
- Add the Seasoning: Add a taco seasoning packet (or use this super easy seasoning recipe down below!) and 3/4 cup of beef broth or water to the skillet with the beef. Stir until well combined.
- Simmer: Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened. Most of the liquid should be gone.
- Assemble: Spoon the taco meat into corn or flour tortillas and add your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
If you’re serving this as a taco bar set-up where everyone can build their own Turbo Time Tacos, here are some toppings suggestions:
- Green Leaf Lettuce
- Roma Tomatoes
- Chopped Cilantro
- Lime Wedges
- Red Onions
- Sour Cream
- Sliced Jalapenos
- Salsa (mild, medium, hot, salsa verde)
- Shredded Cheese
- Queso Fresco
- Cotija Cheese
Taco Seasoning Recipe
Skip the store-bought packet and make your own taco seasoning using spices you probably already have in your pantry! Here’s a delicious, fast recipe:
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 2 teaspoons flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
Combine all of the spices together in a small bowl. This makes enough for one batch of tacos.
Homemade Guacamole
There’s nothing better than homemade guacamole and this Jingle All the Way Movie Night gave me the perfect opportunity to make it. Here’s my recipe for the delicious easy guacamole!
Ingredients:
- 4-5 ripe avocados
- 1 cup diced tomato
- 2-3 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- pinch of salt & pepper
Directions:
- Prep the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop into a bowl. Use a fork to mash the avocados to your desired consistency. I like mine slightly chunky.
- Add Ingredients: Stir in the diced tomato, chopped cilantro, lime juice, and seasonings. Mix until everything is combined. Add more salt and pepper, if needed.
- Optional: Add chopped red onion or chopped jalapeno to add more flavor and heat if desired.
Side Dish Ideas
I made some Mexican rice as one of our sides, but if you’re looking for other ideas, check out these options:
- Black Beans
- Pinto Beans
- Corn and Black Bean Salsa
- Mexican Street Corn (Elote)

Jingle All the Way Movie Night Dessert
“Put that Cookie Down!” Christmas Sugar Cookies
Generally at Christmas, I tend to make large amounts of these sugar cookies to hand out to friends and family. But because I knew I had to incorporate the scene where Howard’s wife Liz is in the kitchen cooking up dozens of Christmas cookies and Ted comes in to ‘help’ haha!
Naturally, we had to make some type of Christmas cookie that could be turned into an activity too, so baking and decorating The Best Small Batch Rolled Sugar Cookies was in order!
My two younger kids really enjoyed helping me roll out the dough (my oldest would rather eat them lol!) and use cookie cutters to make festive designs. It was fun being able to watch them carefully roll out the dough into their desired thickness and place the cookie cutters nonchalantly wherever they pleased lol.
This was killing my cookie-cutter placement OCD haha but truly, I knew this was something, not for myself or for others, but for them, so I swallowed my chill pill and let them do their thing.
Not only was this a fun dessert to make, but this was a fun activity to do too, for our Jingle All the Way movie night!
Ted’s Hot Chocolate
In Jingle All the Way, there is a scene where Ted is holding a platter filled with Christmas mugs that are filled with steaming hot cocoa and Ted is handing out the mugs to neighbors. Naturally, we have to make it!
I’ve been making this Rich Homemade Stovetop Hot Chocolate Recipe for years! This decadent hot chocolate takes only 5 minutes to make and uses simple ingredients that you might already have in your kitchen! My husband is absolutely obsessed with this hot cocoa and can drink way too much in one sitting lol!
Add your favorite toppings to your hot chocolate to put you into the holiday spirit! Here are some delicious toppings ideas:
- Whipped Cream & Cocoa Powder
- Maple Syrup & Pecan Pieces
- Marshmallows & Crushed Candy Canes
- Caramel Drizzle & Sea Salt
- Peanut Butter Drizzle & Mini Chocolate Chips
- Chocolate Shavings & Cinnamon
- Crushed Cookies (like Oreos)

Jingle All the Way Movie Night Conclusion
This is such a fun movie to watch during the holiday season! While it may not be a super popular holiday film, it was for us millennials growing up lol! I remember watching this and absolutely cracking up at Chris Parnell and his line, “It’s only the hottest-selling toy ever, DUH!” and I still laugh at it to this day!
One of my bucket list items is to actually visit the Mall of America, one of the largest malls in North America. where not only was some of the movie was filmed, but where it also premiered!
While this movie is not spectacularly themed like other movies, like Home Alone, it was still fun to create our own ideas for this movie and great times, and hopefully this is helpful for you to put on your own Jingle All the Way movie night!
