Ingredients for Cajun Shrimp Sauce Recipe.

Ingredients:

  • Shrimp – You’ll need about a pound and a half of deveined and rinsed raw shrimp.  The shrimp will be cooked in the Cajun sauce!
  • Butter – For this recipe, you’ll need 3 tbsp butter, but you can use olive oil if you prefer.
  • Shallot – Using shallots in this recipe gives a more delicate, sweet flavor to our delicious sauce. You can also use an onion or onion powder if you’d like.
  • Garlic – You’ll need 4 cloves of garlic for this recipe or you can use garlic powder,
  • Flour – To make our sauce thick and creamy, we’ll need a little bit of white flour to create a roux.
  • Vegetable Broth – You’ll need some vegetable broth for this recipe.  Alternatively, you can use chicken broth or seafood stock if you’d like!
  • Tomato Paste – You won’t need much tomato paste for this recipe, so freeze the remaining in tablespoonfuls on wax paper and move to a freezer bag for later use!
  • Worcestershire Sauce – Adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce will give our sauce a savory element.
  • Cajun Seasoning – To make our Cajun cream sauce, you’ll need lots of Cajun seasoning.  If you prefer to make your own seasoning, head to down to the bottom of the post for a quick recipe.
  • Paprika – Paprika will give a more mild flavor to the sauce.
  • Red Pepper Flakes – To make this a spicy Cajun shrimp sauce, add as little, or as much, red pepper flakes as you’d like!
  • Salt and Pepper – Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  • Heavy Cream – To make our Cajun creamy sauce, you’ll need some heavy cream.
  • Parmesan Cheese – Adding Parmesan cheese will give a nice saltiness and cheesiness to our sauce.

Tools:

  • Skillet – You’ll need a large skillet to make this Cajun shrimp sauce recipe. I also use a large skillet to make my Easy Shrimp Scampi with Linguine Recipe.

In a large skillet over low heat, melt butter or warm up olive oil if using. To the melted butter, add your diced shallots and saute for 2 minutes.  Add in your minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, taking care not to burn fresh garlic if using.
