Ingredients

  • 1 lb linguine pasta can use spaghetti or thin spaghetti

Ground Beef Mixture

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, diced
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar or light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ginger powdered or fresh
  • 1 tsp sriracha, optional

Cornstarch Slurry

  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp water

Optional Ingredients

  • sliced green onions
  • sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook until al dente, about 10 minutes. Before draining, reserve 1 cup of pasta water*, then drain the pasta and set it aside.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef, draining any excess fat. Stir in the diced onions and sauté for 2 minutes until slightly softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the sauce ingredients. Add the sauce to the ground beef and bring to a simmer.
  • In the same bowl as the sauce ingredients, mix together the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add to the skillet and bring back up to a simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Add the cooked linguine to the ground beef and stir the noodles to coat in the sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

*If you like to prepare dinner ahead of time, you may notice the noodles dry out a bit. Before serving, reheat them over low heat, adding ¼ cup of reserved pasta water at a time until they regain their saucy texture.
