Easy Cast Iron Skillet Apple Cobbler Recipe

Ingredients
  

Apple Mixture

  • 6 tbsp butter
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced*
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp flour

Batter Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a 12" cast iron skillet, melt butter and run the butter along the sides of the skillet to grease it.
  • Add the sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the skillet and cook the apples for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add in the lemon juice and flour to help thicken the sauce that is being made and cook for an additional minute.
  • In a bowl, combine all of the batter ingredients together and pour over the apples.
  • Place the skillet into the oven and bake for 35-38 minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy!

Notes

* Feel free to use any apples you have on hand.  I'm using 4 granny smith apples but feel free to use a combination of any apples!
