How to Make Copycat Panera Glazed Orange Scones
This Copycat Panera Bread Orange Scones recipe has a deliciously bright orange flavor and are the perfect breakfast option with a cup of tea or coffee. Panera's orange scones are not only easy to make at home, but they are very affordable to make, and dare I say, better than the Panera version.

Orange Scones
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup butter, cold & cubed (1 stick)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup orange juice concentrate, thawed
- 2 tsp grand marnier or orange extract
- 1 tsp orange zest
Orange Glaze
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 5 tbsp orange juice concentrate, thawed
- 5-6 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tsp orange zest
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and place oven rack in the middle of the oven.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold, cubed butter with a pastry cutter or a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
In a small bowl, combine the heavy cream, oj concentrate, grand marnier (or orange extract), and orange zest together. Stir into the dry ingredients and mix until moistened. The scone mixture will be slightly dry and crumbly.
Pour the scone mixture out onto a floured surface or onto a large piece of parchment paper. Knead the dough about 5 times and form into a ball. Using your hands, pat the dough flat into a 9"-10" circle (about 3/4" thick). Cut the dough into an 'X' shape. Then cut into a '+' sign, to create 8 triangle scones.
Place the scones onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake in the oven for 15 -17 minutes until golden brown. Remove the scones to a wire rack and allow the scones to cool completely before icing.
For orange glaze, whisk the glaze ingredients together. Dip the scones down into the glaze to coat. Alternatively, you can take a spoon, and spoon the icing over the tops of the scones. Enjoy!
